Closed Captioning and Subtitles
Our team has worked diligently to curate a content library that is largely unavailable on other platforms including works that have never been exhibited on television. While our library enables us to provide a unique service to our subscribers, it does bring with it certain logistical challenges. Among these is the challenge of adding closed captioning to works that have not previously aired on television with closed captioning. We are working diligently to ensure that all content on our service is available to our subscribers with closed captioning.
How to enable:
On most devices, you can enable CC Subtitles directly in the video player by clicking the [⚙] gear icon in the video player toolbar.
You can also manage the default subtitle setting for each profile on the Shudder website and on the Shudder app for streaming devices & smart TVs:
Click your profile icon at the top of the screen
Select "Edit Profiles"
Choose the profile you’d like to update and click on the pencil icon
Under "Subtitle Language", select "Subtitles off" or "English (US)"
Select "Continue" or "Save" to save your changes
